<aside> 👉 Hey, Miranda here from UX Survival Guide 👋 Below I've put together my go-to template for running any type of workshop effectively. This template has been rigorously tested through dozens of workshops—everything from simple design ideation to strategic influence activities.

You might think to yourself “wow this seems like overkill” especially if you’re running a pretty small workshop. You’re wrong, trust me and my 13+ years of experience. There is no such thing as too much preparation.

The #1 reason I see workshops fall short is due to lack of preparation.

The #2 reason is because the designer/researcher doesn’t get agreement with their stakeholders/teams on the items I’ve listed in this template.

👉 Use this template to set expectations and get alignment ahead of the workshop, make sure you don’t have any gaps, and that everyone agrees on the value it will bring.

You’ll thank me later…

If you make use of this template, **I’d love to hear about it.**

Here are some other goodies…

Title

Context & Opportunity

Example - We're planning a redesign of our mobile app's onboarding, but many of our ideas are based on guesses rather than evidence. With tight timelines, we risk building features that miss the mark. This workshop will help us surface and prioritize our riskiest assumptions. It’s a chance to align early and focus our research where it matters most.

Objective

Example - To surface, document, and prioritize critical assumptions about users, problems, and solutions, enabling smarter, evidence-based decisions and focused research or validation efforts.
